The Task: $42,195... $1 for every metre to be run in London...

End of the World
With all three members of the team having significant background in event management through university involvement, the idea of a party sounded like a good place to start.  August 2008, exams approaching, the trio came up with an idea to run a university-wide end of exams party – the first party to genuinely invite all students from all universities to come together and celebrate the end of the academic year.  The idea was simple: massive venue, cover charge for charity, cheap drinks, huge venue, great DJs...small overheads, maximum fundraising.

After receiving a very supportive response from HQ Complex Adelaide, the venue was booked and the task of marketing began, albeit with exams approaching for the trio... As the word got out through flyers, facebook, promo nights, emails, banners...the dream was becoming a reality.

Phenomenal assistance from their friendship group and support from the wider university audience saw over 1000 tickets pre-sold with HQ needing to quickly rethink their staffing allocation.  With exams over, November 20 finally arrived and with a line from 8pm hugging the premises around to the car park, close to 2000 people packed into HQ for good times and cheap drinks.
Thanks to the extremely generous support from Jodie and the team at HQ, counting the sums in the
morning brought the good news that over $20,000 had been made overnight.  A huge effort from the trio and all their mates.

The Next $21,000
Following the resounding success of End of the World, Chris, Mark and Adam turned to the task of raising the remaining $21,000.  With the global economic crisis hitting the wallets of every Australian, fund raising had become a much more challenging task.
Despite this, the three continue to work on four tasks in the remaining months before the race to reach their target.

  1. Individual and personal support
  2. The Adelaide2London Fundraising Dinner
  3. Adelaide2London Raffle
  4. Adelaide2London Lawn Bowls
And in their spare time, they’re training.
